Thayerville Fire Tower
Through a joint partnership with the Maryland Forest Service and Deep Creek Lake State Park and Volunteers, the Thayerville fire tower was put back into operation as a visitor destination. In 2009 the Thayerville fire tower was listed on the National Historic Register. The only fire tower in Maryland that is still in working order.
Opened once a week by our volunteers, don't miss this opportunity to climb into history and gain breath taking views of Deep Creek Lake. Children must be 46' tall to climb and only with a parent.
Donations are accepted to keep this historic tower preserved and operational for years to come.
in 2018, the tower will be open to the public on Thursdays from 21 June to 19 July, 1-3PM. As you are walking our trails, stop by and climb to the top!
